A teenager has been charged in connection to overdose deaths on Tsuut'ina Nation.

The Calgary Police have charged a 17year-old in connection to two overdose deaths from the summer.

In June 2025, two people fatally overdosed on the Tsuut’ina Nation.

The police were able to identify potential drug traffickers, and the Calgary Police Service Drug Unit began a five-month long investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Calgary Police determined that a 17-year-old boy was selling cocaine, often conducting the exchanges while on his lunch break at school.

On November 14, 2025, the youth was arrested.

The youth cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A search warrant was executed at a residence, which resulted in the seizure of cellphones, cash, scales, bear spray, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

As a result, the youth has been charged with:

  • Eight counts of trafficking of a controlled substance
  • Seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  • Two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • One count of carrying a concealed weapon
  • One count of possession of identity documents

The youth will now appear in court on Friday, December 5, 2025.

“It’s critical that those who sell drugs are held accountable for their actions”, says Inspector Jeff Pennoyer of the Calgary Police Service Criminal Networks Section. “This case is particularly disturbing since the accused is so young. We are glad we were able to get the accused, and drugs off the streets.”
