The Calgary Police Chief is wanting to help grow the police force’s relationship with the public.
Calgary Police Chief, Katie McLellan, has put an emphasis on gaining the police force gaining the public’s trust, which she feels is important.
Chief McLellan says they have regular conversations about how they are working towards gaining that trust.
According to Chief McLellan, they have several different ways to keep their officers accountable.
Now that we are approaching the end of the year, Chief McLellan says the police force has several achievements from this past year that aren’t based off crime statistics.
With that said, Chief McLellan says there are some issues the Calgary Police could be facing in the next five years.
Chief McLellan adds that, in order to help to keep their officers happy and healthy, they have wellness programs that are accessible for their officers.
According to Chief McLellan, the police force may make mistakes, but she says she will stand up and own up to that mistake to help improve accountability.
