The RCMP says a mountie and his spouse in Southern Alberta are facing fraud-related charges following an investigation by the Alberta RCMP Serious Crimes Branch.
Alberta RCMP say they were alerted in May 2024 to a possible fraud involving an RCMP officer and his wife in connection with Piikani Resource Development Ltd. After what police describe as an extensive investigation, 42-year-old Const. Grant Shade and 40-year-old Katrina Shade, both of Pincher Creek, were charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.
RCMP say Katrina Shade was employed by Piikani Resource Development Ltd. at the time of the alleged incidents.
Const. Shade is also facing an additional charge of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and has been suspended with pay.
Both accused are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Macleod on February 18, 2026. RCMP confirm Const.
Grant Shade has been with the RCMP since 2021.
RCMP say they will not be providing any further comment.
