Southern Alberta Farmers and ranchers, this ones for you!

The Great Twine Round-Up is back for 2026!

Local 4-H clubs and Alberta ag charities can win one of four $3,000 cash prizes simply by recycling clean baler twine.

The program encourages farmers and ranchers to round up clean, used plastic baler twine in bags for recycling, with the prize money supporting their local 4-H club or Alberta-based ag charity of choice.

Drop off your twine at participating southern Alberta locations like Coaldale, Picture Butte, Iron Springs, Nobleford, the MD of Taber, or Kainai Forage in Standoff, then submit your entry online at greattwineroundup.ca.

Part of Cleanfarms’ Alberta Ag-Plastic Recycle It! program, the round-up encourages environmental stewardship — since it started, farmers and ranchers have recycled over 4.5 million kilograms of plastic, including grain bags and twine.

This year, the program also accepts bale wrap and silage plastic, and runs until May 31, 2026. Get your twine in and support your community while helping the planet!
