The Town of Cochrane has an award which honours those who have left a lasting legacy in the community.

Through the Order of Cochrane, the Mayor and Council recognize the individuals for their exceptional leadership and vision.

According to Michelle Ambrose, the Director of Parks & Active Living for the Town of Cochrane, this award has been around for almost two decades.

Each year, Town Council chooses one person for this award, which Ambrose explains.

While they don’t require the recipient to live in Cochrane, they have typically awarded this honour to Cochrane residents.

To win this award, people need to be nominated, which is open until February 27th.

Once the nominations are in, they will be brought to Council, who will then make their decision on who wins this year’s Order of Cochrane.

The selection focuses on legacy contributions that benefit the community over time.

The award gets presented in April, which Ambrose goes on to explain.
