The Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub in Medicine Hat is experiencing a sharp increase in demand as Easter approaches, with more families seeking support and donations of essential food items becoming increasingly needed to keep up with the growing number of clients.
Melissa Mullis, Executive Director of the Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub in Medicine Hat, tells CJWE the organizations unique client-choice shopping program and the growing need for non-perishable items like rice, tuna, and Kraft Dinner.
Since 2019, the Root Cellar has seen demand surge from feeding 900 people to more than 4,000 today, with numbers expected to rise amid increasing food and fuel costs.
