The Calgary Stampede canvas auction is set to begin at 7 p.m at the Big Four building.

The canvas auction is an important indicator for Calgary’s economy, with last years auction bringing in a little under $4 million.

The bids can range from an average of $142,000 to the highest bid put forth last year, coming in at $230,000 for Jason Glass, by Birchcliff Energy Ltd, nearly $20,000 more than 2024’s top bid.

Other items will be auctioned off, including a giant painting of chuckwagon legend Kelly Sutherland, painted by artist Paul Van Ginkel, with a second work to be raffled off for charity.

Companies with successful bids will have their names on the chuckwagons during the Rangeland Derby in this upcoming Calgary Stampede, which will run July 3 to July 12.
