The third annual Red Dress Powwow is set for May 8th from 6pm to 10pm at the Big Four Roadhouse in Calgary. Hosted by the Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary, the Red Dress Powwow offers a chance for everybody to come down and honour culture and ceremony.

We got to speak with Krista White, one of the organizers for the event and asked her about the Red Dress imagery.

The red dress has long since been a symbol for missing, murdered and exploited Indigenous women and girls. We talked to Krista about the significance of the red colour.

CJWE also asked Krista about what it takes to organize such a large event.

Everyone is encouraged to come down and partake in a moment of remembrance and unity as we honour Indigenous women and girls. The Red Dress Powwow will take place May 8th, from 6pm to 10pm, at the Big Four in Calgary.
