Bearspaw First Nation Ground Breaking Ceremony
Last week saw a proposed upgrade to Eden Valleys water treatment centre received a Notice of Determination from Indigenous Services Canada, that said the proposed upgrade project will NOT have significant adverse environmental impact.
This past April was the official ground breaking ceremony for the new upgraded water facility, after the old facility was damaged in a fire in November of 2022.
This project aims to replace a temporary rental system that was been supplying potable water for the Bearspaw community since the fire.
The new water treatment centre is being funded through a cost sharing effort between Bearspaw First Nation and Indigenous Services Calgary, totaling $16.7 million dollars.
The plant is slated to be finished for September of 2027, with full function around March of 2028.
