A local film legend, with ties to big name westerns, will be marshalling the Little Britches Parade in High River this weekend.
Legendary Alberta stuntman and animal wrangler, John Scott, has been part of major westerns, such as Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven, Legends of the Fall starring Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins, and more.
For Unforgiven, Scott was the stunt double for Gene Hackman.
Scott says he isn’t positive why he was chosen to be the parade marshal for the Little Britches Parade.
Eldon Couey was the High River mayor for three terms, serving from 1989 to 1998, as well as being part of the High River Agriculture Society, High River Chamber of Commerce, and High River Rotary Club.
While this is Scott’s first time marshalling the Little Britches Parade, he has been involved in the Calgary Stampede parade and the Longview parade in the past.
Scott adds that it is an honour to be selected to be the Little Britches Parade Marshal.
All of the film work that is happening in the High River area, helps to inject money into the local economy, which Scott explains.
While Scott’s ranch is well known in the film industry, there are a couple other ranches in the area that are just as involved in the film industry.
And with each accolade the films shot in the area receive, Scott says, helps to bring even more film sets to the area.
The High River Little Britches Parade will be taking place on May 16, starting at the Rodeo Grounds at 10 a.m.
As part of the parade there will be performers, food trucks, battle of the bands, and more.
