Environment Canada is warning of a major storm expected on Wednesday morning.
A major spring storm with strong winds and heavy snow is expected over the south-eastern portion of Alberta.
According to Environment Canada, an intense low will develop in Alberta Wednesday morning, and will cross into Saskatchewan on Thursday.
As a result, strong northwesterly winds with gusts of 90 to 100 km/hr are possible in the east-central to southeastern portion of the province, starting early Thursday morning.
On top of the severe winds, there is the potential for significant rain or snowfall over the northern parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
The heaviest precipitation is expected to start Thursday morning, with 20 to 40 mm of precipitation expected by Friday night, while the highest potential for snowfall will be across northern Alberta and into north-central Saskatchewan, where snowfall totals could exceed 20 cm.
For cities like Edmonton and Calgary, rain is expected to be the main concern, if wet weather develops.
