How often does it actually snow on the Long Weekend? Photo by Stephen Strand
May Long weekend is often considered a gamble on if campers will get sunshine or snow.
But, how often does it actually snow on the Long Weekend?
According to Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, Alysa Pederson, it’s a bit hard to track down the precise amount of snowfall for this long weekend.
With that said, Pederson says she can speak to how often Calgary has received snow in the middle of May, covering the typical dates of the Long Weekend.
There was also snow on May 20th2022, May 20th 2021, May 27th 2009, May 21st and May 24th 2007, and more.
While those dates have seen snow, it’s never been that much.
In fact, the most snow Calgary has received in May was 8.4 cm on May 24th, 2007.
This year, Pederson says Calgary got around 5 cm of snow this weekend, with some areas west of Calgary getting upwards of 17 cm of snow.
