May Long weekend is often considered a gamble on if campers will get sunshine or snow.

But, how often does it actually snow on the Long Weekend?

According to Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, Alysa Pederson, it’s a bit hard to track down the precise amount of snowfall for this long weekend.

With that said, Pederson says she can speak to how often Calgary has received snow in the middle of May, covering the typical dates of the Long Weekend.

There was also snow on May 20^th2022, May 20^th 2021, May 27^th 2009, May 21^st and May 24^th 2007, and more.

While those dates have seen snow, it’s never been that much.

In fact, the most snow Calgary has received in May was 8.4 cm on May 24^th, 2007.

This year, Pederson says Calgary got around 5 cm of snow this weekend, with some areas west of Calgary getting upwards of 17 cm of snow.
