The City of Calgary is adding new vehicles to it’s line after nearly 6 years.

The new vehicles, known as the C10 will be making routes this week. It’s very similar to the C9, with some extra interior upgrades, like heated floors, digital display screens and improved accessibility.

The city currently has 217 Light Rail vehicles, 32 of those are the old U2 Vehicles, which had been in service for over 40 years. Those are being replaced by the C10’s. The older vehicles should be phased out of service by 2028.

Transit officials also say the new trains will be easier to maintain as well.

More than 150,000 people take the Calgary Transit system every day.
