Stoney Nakoda First Nation has issued a warning for its members after a grizzly bear reportedly charged at a group of people this week.
The Stoney Nakoda First Nation administration said July 7 that a mother bear chased some of the Nation’s members along the eastern section of Chiniki Lake Road.
Officials say the sow, which has been frequently seen on the road and the east end of Chiniki Lake, was likely protecting her cubs when the incident took place.
The band warns its members to exercise caution when in the above areas.
It’s not known if anyone was hurt.
