Bored This Weekend? I Suggest The Calgary Zoo, Here’s Why

The Calgary Zoo is a longtime destination, always a good option to let your kids burn out their energy, a great date spot, and generally a place to visit if you love animals.

But beyond that, it’s always worth supporting what the Wilder Institute’s Calgary Zoo do, whether it’s rescuing baby bear cubs, or maintaining red panda breeding, or even bringing in NEW animals, the zoo does so much for animal populations across the country and beyond.

And if that’s not reason enough to go, what about a brand new zoo experience? That’s right, the Wilder Institute’s Calgary Zoo has announced the opening of the long, and I mean long, awaited opening of the Asian Highlands, which welcomes in three newly created habitats. The zoo is happy to welcome back red pandas and snow leopards, as well as a new member of the zoo, the Sichuan takin.

“Asian Highlands marks an exciting milestone for the Wilder Institute’s Calgary Zoo,” said Dr. Kyle Burks, President and CEO. “As the first phase of a broader journey to reimagine our connection to Asia’s wildlife and landscapes, it brings together exceptional animal care, conservation storytelling, and meaningful opportunities for guests to learn and engage.”

The experience is included in a regular admission pass, so get out there and check out the new animals, and say hello to some old favourites.
