Alberta’s new health cards now include expiry dates, meaning residents will need to periodically renew their residency and personal information to keep their health coverage active.
For integrated cards, health coverage expires on the same date as the person’s driver’s licence or Alberta ID card. Standalone and mobile health cards will have their own expiry dates.
The province says emergency care will never be refused, but people with an expired health card may be required to pay for certain health services.
