Wildlife Coexistence Cochrane is offering residents a chance to test their bear spray skills, including safety tips, how to use the spray and how to avoid wildlife conflicts in the first place.
The bear simulator is a statue on a ramp, supplied by the Mountain View Bear Smart group, and is supposed to simulate how quickly an interested bear can approach.
The free training is open to residents 16+, and will be held only on Saturday September 5th, and has sessions at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30pm, on the lawn outside The Station in Cochrane.
Each session has space for 25 participants.
People are also allowed to attend as spectators. The training also uses an inert spray, meaning no harmful chemicals in your eyes, should the wind pick up.
