Parks Canada is issuing a special caution for the Skoki Trails, which includes areas around Skoki Lodge, Hidden Lake, Merlin Meadows, Baker Lake, Red Deer Lakes, Deception Pass and Cotton Grass Pass.
Hikers in parts of Banff and these areas are being urged to exercise more caution, as reports of a grizzly bear showing bold, and human-curious behavior.
According to officials, the grizzly has been frequenting the area, and has made multiple close approaches to people. Visitors Banff-bound this weekend are reminded to be prepared to encounter a bear at any time while in the area.
Pets should be kept on a leash, and children should be in eyesight at all times. If you spot a bear, report the sighting to a Visitor Centre or Banff Dispatch at 403-762-1470.
