Water supplies for Calgary residents and regional customers will temporarily drop next week because of planned electrical work at the Bearspaw Water Treatment Plant.
The work is needed to support construction of a pump station tied to the North Calgary Water Servicing Project.
City officials note that the electrical upgrades will briefly limit the volume of water that can be delivered.
Given current weather outlooks and expected demand, the city does not expect to impose outdoor watering restrictions during this period.
A separate project is scheduled for mid- to late October, when the new Bearspaw South feeder main will be connected to the existing system. That work is expected to trigger temporary Stage 4 water restrictions along with indoor conservation measures lasting roughly four weeks.
