Parks Canada has closed two trails, and six backcountry campgrounds in the Lake Minnewanka area of Banff National Park. According to the agency, black bears in the area are displaying food-seeking behavior through these last several months.
The closures went into effect Sept. 16, and will remain in place until further notice. It includes the Lake Minnewanka Trail, Aylmer Pass Trail and campgrounds Lm8, Lm9, Lm11, Lm20, Lm22 and Lm31.

Traffic and travel are prohibited in the area, and violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act and face a maximum penalty of $25,000.
Parks Canada is asking visitors to respect the closure, give wildlife space and remain bear aware while in the park.
