The City of Lethbridge has announced four events that lead up to National Day for Truth and Reconciliation this year, and includes events on September 30th.
The events started over the weekend, with a run/walk that took place September 20th, at the Kinsmen Shelter Area. The Honouring Traditions Powwow Run/Walk took participants around Henderson Lake.
City Hall is hosting their opening ceremonies for the week on September 21st, and features an Elder prayer, talks from community leaders and a traditional blessing.
September 23rd features an Appreciation vs Appropriation talk, taking place at the Public Library at 1pm. The chat will discuss how to play a part in building a culturally respectful community. Registration via email is required.
There will also be a Wellness Conference, taking place at the Main Branch within the Public Library, and explores themes about reconciliation and it’s importance, supporting children through culture and connection, and working with Elders.
And on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Buffalo Spirit Games will take place, at Nicholas Sheran Park, starting at 10am on September 30th. Traditional Games, cultural activities and storytelling are all on the days agenda.
The Lethbridge Public Library is hosting the fourth annual Truth and Reconciliation Day Walk on Sunday, Sept. 27. The walk begins at 11 a.m. It goes from the main branch to Galt Gardens, then back to the library.

The City of Lethbridge will observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and will follow statutory holiday hours of operation.
