Wildfire risk reduction work coming to Bragg Creek

By Sarah Scott Oct 5, 2026 | 10:17 AM

Rocky View County and Alberta Forestry and Parks are getting ready to begin wildfire risk reduction work around Bragg Creek this fall.

The project will run from October through March and will focus on thinning trees, removing deadfall and clearing other surface fuels in forested areas around the community.

The work is designed to reduce the potential intensity and spread of wildfires, while protecting homes, infrastructure and the surrounding forest.

Crews will be working during frozen ground conditions to help limit environmental impacts.

Residents may notice equipment, daytime noise, temporary access restrictions and areas where trees and deadwood have been removed.

The project is supported by the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta and follows FireSmart Canada best practices.
