The 2027 Calgary Stampede Poster was unveiled October 5th, 2026.
October 5th was the date the Calgary Stampede unveiled their new poster for 2027. Painted by 23-year-old Keegan George of Barrhead, Alberta, the painting itself features Hayes Weight, abord Judge and Jury during the 2025 Stampede Rodeo.
“I wanted the bull’s head to command a large part of the Poster and create that feeling of being close to the action,” explained George. “The crowd in the background shows the scale of the Rodeo, while the movement of the bull, rider and chaps builds anticipation. I made the fringe on the chaps red because it’s eye-catching and connects the piece to the Calgary Stampede. I hope people see it as thrilling, dramatic and full of action.”
Today also marks the launch of ticket sales for the 2027 Stampede and Evening Show, with dates set for July 9th to the 18th of 2027.
This years Youth Poster competition marked the 5th try for Keegan George, who says her families farm and animals served as the foundation for her artistic practice. She had made the top 30 twice, and the top 8 twice, before winning the 2027 competition.
Since 2018, the Dustin Peers Memorial Scholarship, generously funded by the Brandon Flock Foundation, awards $20,000 in educational scholarships annually to the competition’s top eight finalists, including $10,000 to the first-place winner, making it one of Canada’s largest art scholarships.
Applications are already open for the 2028 poster, and Alberta artists aged 15-24 are encouraged to start imagining what they might create. Application submissions are due December 4th of 2026. Find more info here.
