The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has charged an RCMP officer with assault causing bodily harm.
On October 30, 2025, police arrested a woman for mischief and took her to the Gleichen RCMP detachment. While an officer was placing her in cells, an allegation of excessive force was made.
After reviewing the case and receiving advice from the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service, ASIRT decided the officer should be charged.
On October 22, 2026, ASIRT arrested Const. Marie-Helene Dupere and charged her with assault causing bodily harm.
She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice at Siksika Nation on November 26.
