Shoppers in southwest Calgary will soon have a brand-new retail destination.
On November 26, a massive 102,300-square-foot Real Canadian Superstore will officially open its doors at Buffalo Run, located within the Tsuut’ina Nation.
This upcoming launch represents a significant milestone: it is the first Superstore location in Alberta developed in close partnership with an Indigenous community, reflecting a collaborative effort between Loblaw Companies Limited, Tsuut’ina Nation, and Taza Development Corp.
Throughout the design phase, the project team worked alongside the Tsuut’ina-Taza Cultural Advisory Working Group.
According to James Robertson, President of Taza Development Corp, the building’s aesthetic will feature original pieces created by local Indigenous artists.
“Real Canadian Superstore took the time to listen, their team brought the guidance they received during design into this building, including original work by local Indigenous artists. This opening brings jobs and everyday essentials closer to Tsuut’ina Nation members and the families settling into Taza. Buffalo Run will keep growing, and we’re committed to building it out with the same intention.”
Buffalo Run is one of three dynamic communities—alongside Taza Park and The Crossing—making up Taza, a sprawling 1,200-acre development situated adjacent to Calgary’s southwest boundary.
Superstores grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, November 26, at 7 a.m.
