Okotoks RCMP launch CAPTURE allowing residents to help with crime prevention

By Digital News Aug 30, 2023 | 1:08 PM

Okotoks RCMP have launched a new voluntary surveillance program called CAPTURE.

CAPTURE stands for Community Assisted Policing Through Use of Recorded Evidence.

Okotoks residents can now actively help with crime prevention by registering their home security cameras and allowing access by the RCMP.

RCMP will then map out where the cameras are in the community and have quick access when needed.

It is a free program to join, and all footage will still belong to the citizen and will only be shared with RCMP on a voluntary basis.

The database will also be kept confidential and only accessible by the RCMP.
