The Circle Connections for Reconciliation Society (CCFRS) in Airdrie is hosting two events at the Bert Church Theatre this year to commemorate National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30. Uncle Trent spoke to Adrian Pruden, the Co-Chair of The Circle Connections for Reconciliation Society in Airdrie. You can listen to the interview here:

The afternoon begins with an Elder Talk with Elder John Sinclair, Cree Nation, who will be sharing his
stories and teachings. It is an incredible opportunity for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to
come together to connect, learn and gain important understandings from an Elder. The event is being
held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the lobby of Bert Church LIVE Theatre.
While the Elder Talk is free to attend, seats are limited. People must register on Eventbrite at
elderjohn.eventbrite.ca to attend. Due to the nature of the talk, this event is for ages 14 and over. The
event is supported by the Calgary Foundation and the City of Airdrie.
The second event is a performance of “New Blood: A Story of Reconciliation” from 4-5:30 p.m. (doors
open at 3:30 p.m.) again at Bert Church LIVE Theatre.
The widely acclaimed production blends Blackfoot music and contemporary music by Peter Gabriel to
create an amazing piece of theatre celebrating Blackfoot history and traditions. Poetry, song, dance,
contemporary and traditional featuring Siksika musicians and dancers, performers from Strathmore,
Alberta and the music of Peter Gabriel. Conceived by Deanne Bertsch at Strathmore High School. New
Blood is made possible through support and collaboration with the City of Airdrie as well as the
sponsorship of TC Energy.
Tickets for New Blood are available at airdrie.ca/ndtr. Admission is FREE for First Nations, Métis and
Inuit Peoples. Tickets for non-Indigenous people are $10 for adults (18+) and $5 for youth (3-17) and
includes fees and GST.
