Four young offenders charged with sexually assaulting a teammate did not appear in person at their first court appearance yesterday.
They were instead represented by their lawyers who have requested a one-month adjournment while they await disclosure documents from prosecutors and Lethbridge police.
The young offenders are accused of sexually assaulting a youth in the school’s locker room after regular school hours on October 3, 2023.
The accused, all young offenders, have been charged with sexual assault with a weapon, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.
During the execution of a search warrant at the Chinook High School, Lethbridge Police Service disclosed they found a weapon, but did not disclose what it was.
The judge granted has granted the one-month adjournment, and the four accused youth are next scheduled to appear in court November 22, 2023.
