Helping screen men for prostate cancer in rural communities

On average there are approximately 2,500 cases of prostate cancer in Alberta each year meaning, 123 of 100,000 are positive after screening.

According to Alberta Health, the peak age of diagnosis is between 60-69 and is the third leading cause of cancer deaths among men.

To help men in Canada and in rural communities, the Man Van is Canada’s first and currently only mobile men’s health clinic offering FREE testing for prostate cancer.

One of the stops will be taking place at the Stoney Health Centre in Mini Thni on October 28, 2023.

CJWE Spoke with General Manager of the Man Van Camille Scheible about the importance of the Van.

 

The Van will be open to men over the age of eighteen where they can get a quick physical and partake in a mental wellness check.
