Many who drive on Memorial Drive in Calgary Alberta from November first to the eleventh, will see over three thousand white memorial markers with the majority in the shape of a cross, representing those who enlisted in Calgary to answer a call to fight for a better tomorrow.
Since 2009, the Field of Crosses have been honouring and remember the many brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the country of Canada but also, for strangers they never met so they may have freedom.
During that time, the field hosts 10 Days of Remembrance where different groups are recognized for their service.
On November 8, Indigenous Veterans will be honoured and recognized for their service and sacrifice across Canada.
Field of Crosses Director Sean Libin came into the CJWE Studio to share some of the stories of Calgary’s Canadian Indigenous Military members who honoured at the field.

Windspeaker Radio Network will be having moments of silences on the eleventh hour on November 8 and 11.
Libin brought with him when visiting the CJWE Studio, stories of a few First World War and Second World War Indigenous troops who are currently honoured at the Field of Crosses.
Each story was voiced by Libin at the studio and can be listened to below.
