Major detours will be coming to affect which may see an end to the sudden jams on Deerfoot trail where drivers if they go any slower, they’d be driving in reverse. Thankfully the end is in site as improvements to the Deerfoot may help the flow of traffic in the northern section.
This is part of the Deerfoot Trail Improvements plan with the City of Calgary and Province of Alberta that will improve on and off ramps for 64 AVE and McKnight Boulevard. This portion of the over all improvements to Deerfoot Trail will be handed by Aecon Infrastructure Management who won the bid for $615 million.
The temporary closure will be in affect Friday April 28. The city is expecting the northern improvement to be fully completed by 2025 while in the south those improvements are expected to finish in 2027.
