The Calgary Fire Department is asking for the public’s assistance in an investigation into a multi-residential building fire on Pinestream Way N.E.

Around 12:30 in the afternoon Calgary Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a fire on a third floor balcony of a multi-residential building. Upon arrival crews quickly brought the fire under control quickly to prevent damage to near by units however, the fire breached the unit and caused significant fire and smoke damage. Emergency responders found a man who was sent to hospital with burn injuries and smoke inhalation.

No other injuries where reported and residents who have been temporarily evacuated are expected to be able to return to their units once crews deem it safe to do so.

The cause of the fire is still on-going and Calgary Fire Department is asking anyone with photos or video prior to crews arriving on scene are asked to send them to piofire@calgary.ca
