As the city of Calgary will be having its main stage Canada Day celebration at Fort Calgary, the firework display will be launched out of Stampede Park.

The city in mid May, announced they’d be canceling its firework display in place of a main stage pyrotechnic show as the decision to not include fireworks for 2023 was for environmental and cultural sensitivity.

However, both the cities and Mayor Jodi Gondek’s inbox were flooded with messages from many Calgarians who where unhappy about the cancellation of the firework display.

Because of the volume of messages from Calgarians, City Manager David Duckworth in a press release shared the news about bringing the fireworks back saying, “The City of Calgary committed to sharing the location for a site to hold the Canada Day display, and we’re so happy to announce that our partner, the Calgary Stampede, will be the site for the launch of 2023 fireworks”.

The city will be keeping the pyrotechnic show at the main stage along with the firework display.

More details will be announced closer to the July 1 celebration including the full list of activities that will be taking place across the city.
