With the start of the school year only days away, drivers need to be aware that school zones will soon be back in effect.
The speed limit of 30 kilometres an hour will apply between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on school days, where signs are posted.
If you are caught speeding in a school zone, and if you are caught driving anywhere from 1-50km over the speed limit, fines will double and could range from $75 – $475
With students heading back, residents will see the return of many school buses. Passing a stopped bus with the lights flashing could not only result in a potential accident but could net you a hefty fine of $567 and a loss of six demerits points.
