To help give members of the Kainai Nation (Blood Tribe), the Kainiaiwa Children’s Services Corporation (KCSC) opened its second programing Centre for families with children under the age of eighteen in the southeast area of the Blood Tribe’s territory by the Town Cardtson Alberta.
The new Centre is two of four that the Nation is wanting to build to better service the Nation as the Kainai Nation has the largest reserve in Canada.
This will provide programing to the Moses Lake, Bull Horn and Fish Creek communities as the main location in Standoff is thirty minutes to the north.
The Centre is located next door to the future Addictions Treatment Centre that will have 75 beds available when operating at full capacity.
Councilor and Board Member of KCSC Marcel Weasel Head, shared why having the new youth Centre next to the treatment Centre will help keep families together.

The Centre offers a space for families to interact with their children in programing and provides opportunities to connect them with additional resources.
Some of the programing will include, tutoring for school work, afterschool program, screen detoxing, beading, play area and time with elders.
There will also be a bus service available to help bring people to the Centre to help those who may not be able to get to the Centre.
CEO of KCSC Shannon Soop, explained how programing available within the nation is important to the health of the community.

The grand opening will take place took place on November 3, 2023 where families and youth came learn more about the new Centre.
One of the additions to the the new building is a set laundry machines which are available for use however, will be limited in use due to time availablibilty.
