The Facebook group Bragg Creek Wild issued a warning of new cougar sightings in the area as well as three new pet incidents, on Sunday.
The group is warning Bragg creek residents to bring your pets in at night as cougars see them as an easy food source.
The cougar’s home range can be as large as 300 square KM’s so all Bragg Creek residents should take precautions.
To keep cougars away from your property it is recommended to keep your garbage in a container with a tightly sealed lid.
They recommend carrying bear spray and keep your children close, never let them outside or in wooded areas alone.
Cougar attacks on humans are very rare, but cougars can sometimes mistake children for small prey animals.
