Alberta motorists will be feeling the pressures at the pump as gas prices go up by nine cents per litre across the province.
A year ago on Jan. 1, 2023, the Alberta Government introduced the Fuel tax relief program which helped Albertans save 13 cents per litre at the pump with the rising costs of inflation which was set to expire Dec. 31, 2023.
With the New Year, Albertans will still be saving little bit at the pump as the program moves from 13 cents to 9 cents per litre for gasoline and diesel.
However, prices are set to go up again as the program will fulling expire on March 31, 2024, which will see prices go up another 9 cents.
In Southern Alberta, city centers like Lethbridge, Calgary and Medicine Hat encourage the use of public transit with the average price being $75 dollars per month for an adult pass.
However, that isn’t the case for Calgary as the cost for monthly passes have gone up with an adult pass costing $115 dollars per month.
City of Calgary Transit does offer a low income discount for their passes with more information being available on the City’s website.
