The Calgary Wranglers will be hosting their first ever ‘Indigenous Night’ on Sunday March 10th at 6pm when they host the Ontario Reign. The celebration will focus on all cultures and communities within Treaty 7.
Nathan MacDonald is the Manager of Business Operations for the Calgary Wranglers and joined the Windspeaker Radio Network to discuss the historic moment for the young franchise.
Jacob Alexis, who designed the Calgary Hitmen’s Every Child Matters jersey will be spearheading the project once again for the Wranglers. The jersey’s will be auctioned off and proceeds from the 50/50 will be donated.
MacDonald continued to discuss some of the pre-game events and the cultural impact of the game.
The Canadian national anthem will be sung by Dilayna Blackhorse in the Blackfoot language. In addition to the game, there will be cultural ceremonies during the pre-game with elders and ceremonial drummers.
Puck drop is set for 6pm.
