Naheed Nenshi announces his running for NDP leadership in Alberta

Former Mayor of Calgary Naheed Nenshi announced on social media platforms Monday he’ll be running to be the leader of the Alberta NDP.

Former Premier and leader of the NDP Rachel Notley stepped down as leader in January. According to Elections Alberta, five people have officially announced their candidacy.

They include MLAs Kathleen Ganley, Rakhi Pancholi, Sarah Hoffman and Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse and Alberta Federation of Labour president Gil McGowan. The deadline to enter will be Friday, March 15th.

Voting for the new NDP leader will begin May 22nd with the results available June 22nd.
