Calgarians from all walks of life turned took over Steven Ave. in Calgary’s downtown core to celebrate everything pop-culture.
To mark the first full day of the Calgary Expo and to kick everything off the popular Pow! Parade saw approximately one thousand people gathered along the parade’s route.
This year’s parade marshal was Calgary raised Todd McFarlane creator of the hit comic book series Spawn.
The route went down to the Olympic Plaza where a special white hat ceremony was held for the special guest and McFarlane teasing that the upcoming Spawn movie’s premiere may take place in Calgary.
While fans take the opportunity to connect with one another at the Expo held at the BMO Centre which hosted over two hundred vendors.
The Expo also has hundreds of volunteers helping facilitating the experience of fans over the weekend.
An element of gatherings of pop-culture is cosplay where fans dawn their homemade costumes of their favourite character.
Veteran Cosplay Rob who was cosplaying as DC character White Lantern Hawk Man spoke with CJWE about cosplaying.
According to the Expo’s Facebook page both Friday and Saturday are sold out but there are still passes available for Sunday.
