May 5 is Nationally recognized as Red Dress Day, a day dedicated to honouring the memory of Missing Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People.
The image of a hanging empty red dress was started by Manitoba Métis artist Jaime Black to symbolize the pain and loss felt by loved one and survivors.
CJWE spoke with organizer of Red Dress Day Calgary Deborah Green-Gopher about the gathering taking place on Sunday.
The memorial gathering will be taking place in Calgary at 200 memorial Drive NW from 12-4:30pm.
