The Kainai Mountain Chiefs are a new lacrosse team who are looking to get a strong footing in the Nation as its first lacrosse team.
The Chiefs where established by Chad Chief Moon after the team in Crowsnest’s Pass which was part of the Southern Alberta Lacrosse Association dissolved due to not enough players joining back in 2021.
Seeing an opportunity, Chief Moon transferred the team to the Kainai Nation to bring a new sport the Nation to help youth build confidence in themselves.
Since the U13 team’s been established in 2023, parents like Marcia White Quills shares how her son has taken on more leadership since joining the team.
While the Mountain Chiefs couldn’t secure a win during the home opener on Saturday, it left a lasting impression on the young players as they continue to learn more about themselves as they grow into the game.
