Through out the newly expanded BMO Centre at the Calgary Stampede, guest will see various pieces of art which shines a light on Calgary.
With art from various disciplines including, paint, photography, song, and handcrafted items in the Calgary Stampede Art Show at the Western Oasis in hall A2 there is a little something for everyone.
Cree Artist Neepin Auger of Bigstone Cree Nation has been at the Art Show since she was little as she would get to see her father the late Dale Auger, feature his paintings at the show and is commemorated in the Calgary Stampede Hall of Fame.
It was not until 2021 when Neepin displayed her own work at the Stampede where she sold every piece she brought with her.
While beating the heat at the Western Oasis, CJWE caught up with Neepin about being at the Stampede and a little bit about one of her art pieces that permanent display at the BMO Centre.
Neepin’s commissioned piece titled Calling Good Medicine is displayed on the second floor of the BMO Centre.
