Multi vehicle crash involving 12 vehicles shuts down Highway 1 east of Gleichen

On Monday afternoon, Police responded to a crash involving more than a dozen vehicles on Highway 1 east of Gleichen.

Mounties from Brooks, Bassano and Gleichen responded to the site, east of Cluny, at about 10:30 a.m. as a snowfall warning was in effect.

The multi-vehicle crash occurred in the westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway between Highway 842 and Highway 56.

Police said injuries are unknown at this time.

Motorists were told to avoid the area as officers worked at the scene.
