Métis week is in full swing in the city of Medicine Hat with Métis culture on full display.
Following the many celebrations across Alberta for the birthday of Louis Riel, the Métis flag was raised at Medicine Hat’s City Hall to signal the start of its Métis week.
Community members young and old gathered for the raising with sashes blowing in the wind along with the sound of the singing of the Métis anthem.
With the flag flying at city hall Medicine Hat Mayor Lindsey Clark encourages Medicine Hat residence to use this week to learn more about local Métis history.
