Three local High River organizations are being empowered through the Town of High River’s Community Vitality Fund.
This year the High River Chronicles, Connecting Culture through Basketball, and the Windmill Theatres Players have been awarded collectively $11,820 to aid in a variety of initiatives – from sports, community celebrations, to local filmmaking.
- The High River Chronicles is a documentary series by the Unity Film Festival telling the story of High River’s agricultural and indigenous history. They have been awarded $4,200 to assist in producing a nine-episode series.
- The Connecting Culture through Basketball initiative by Jesus Rock of Ages Ministries is open to everyone, and will be running November 16 to April 27, from 4 – 8 pm, Sundays at the High River Baptist Church. They have been awarded $5,120 to run this four-and-a-half-month program.
- And the Windmill Theatres Players are hosting a year-end gala, ‘50 Years and Still Having a Ball!’ held December 28 at the Highwood Centre. They have been awarded $2,500 to aid in the gala celebrating this milestone.
The Fund offers financial resources and capacity building once a year for local events and programs aimed at enriching the community. Applicants are selected and recommended every year by the Community Vitality Advisory Committee. To learn more about the Fund visit the Town of High River’s website.
