The City of Lethbridge has been working with local Blackfoot Elders to develop the plan for areas and sites in the city that have historical and heritage significance. One such location is the famous Battle of Belly River heritage site, which is the location of the last major battle between First Nations in North America. The Battle happened in 1870 between Blackfoot Confederacy tribes and Cree and Assiniboine tribes.
The plan is now in its final stages and an online survey has been opened to the general public for input.
Ross Kilgour, Senior Community Planner for the City of Lethbridge, shares the hopes for the survey:
The survey closes on the eve of January 20th and is available here.
