June 15th marks World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the mistreatment of seniors and advocating for their protection. The Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council (AEAAC) is urging communities to take action to prevent neglect, financial exploitation, and other forms of harm towards older adults.
April Tucker, Indigenous Liaison with the Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council, spoke with CJWE on the day dedicated to recognizing elder abuse within the community. She also discussed her upcoming visit to Indigenous communities on June 9th, where she will continue efforts to raise awareness and address the issue.
