The annual Iceberg Tournament is only a week away meaning the city of Medicine Hat will soon be buzzing with hockey families from all over.
For the past 10 years, young hockey players have been grabbing their friends and partaking in a 3-3 pond hockey-style tournament in Medicine Hat.
Chris Wyrostok one of the organizers of the tournament shares how it’s a last hurrah for many of the youth whose season is coming to an end.

The tournament has been an important milestone for many over the years with some moving on to the NHL like Kaiden Guhle who went on to play for the Montreal Canadians after being drafted back in 2022 from the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL.
Those wishing to take part in this year’s tournament are out of luck as team registration has filled up and roughly seven hundred youth from various divisions will be taking to the ice for the two-day tournament.
This year’s 50/50 will see half of the proceeds going to Margery E Yuill Cancer Centre in Medicine Hat in memory of Jeff Gold, who lost his battle with cancer in 2023 and was one of the key organizers of the tournament.
