$5.5 Million in funding to support Blood Tribe Police Service growth

New funding for the Blood Tribe Police Service has been announced from the Alberta government, which will be used for a greatly needed new police facility.

The building will support the creation of specialized units, improve recruitment and retention, and enhance overall service delivery to the community.

Chief of Police, Grant Buckskin, of the Blood Tribe Police Service shares how the new facility will not only benefit the service and their work, but also the community engagement and connection to culture:

 

He also shared the importance of culturally informed policing, developing relationships with the community, and understanding the Kainai Nation’s history and challenges is essential for officers serving the area.
